IES BEFORE
Ibaba
Elementary School (IES) started as an extension of Paete Elementary School
in 1960. The first two-school building was put up through Mr. Faustino Adefuin,
former Paete District Supervisor supported by then Mayor, Dr. Severino
Villarin, Baranagy Captain Pablo Aguinaldo, and civic-spirited leaders, Mr.
Vicente Afurong, Mr. Amber Adefuin, Mr. Gervasio Marcelo and Mr. Teofilo
Aguinaldo. Its first teachers were Mrs. Dolores Acu, Mrs. Zenaida Navarro and Mrs.
Lourdes Q. Carolino. More buildings were constructed and the number of teachers
increased under a teacher in-charge, Mr. Rustico Rasalan. In 1969, IES became a
separate school under its first Principal, Mr. Eduardo S. Palatino with ten
teachers: Mrs. Salud M. Villamayor, Mrs. Necitas F. Pacunayen, Mrs. Victorina
B. Limlengco, Mrs. Fe B. Astronimo, Mrs. Fe Afuang-Roque, Mr. Rustico Rasalan,
Mr. Ramon C. Angeles, Mrs. Maria S. Afunggol, Mrs Erlinda V. Baldemor and Mrs.
Nelly Cagayan-Veluz. Past Principals were Mrs. Josefina A. Fadriquela, Mrs. Ana
A. Castillo, Miss Maura C. Cadapan, Mrs. Azucena A. Ansay and Mrs. Carmen A.
Afuang.
In
1996, Mrs. Victorina B. Limlengco took charge of the school. Improvements and
innovations were made and in 2002, the school was chosen as Unit IV’s Most
Outstanding and Effective Non-Central School,

Non-Central School
canteen and Functional
Feeding Center.
In Campus Journalism, school papers in English and Filipino were published and
received awards in the division/regional/national levels since 1998-2003.
IES NOW
The
school is still under the supervision and administration of Mrs. Victorina
Bonsol Limlengco, Principal I. Its teachers and personnel are: Mrs. Matilde
A. Inawat, Mrs. Aida B. Acala, Mrs. Benita M. Angeles, Mrs. Coronacion M. Adea,
Mrs. Dalisay P. Madriñan, Mrs. Shiela D. Cabisidan, Ms. Erly A. Evangelista,
Mrs. Melba D. Buenviaje, Mrs. Ma. Grace R. Dacsil, Mrs. Iryn C. Lacbay, Mrs.
Nimfa B. Peñamante, Mrs. Violeta C. Pillas, Mrs. Jocelyn C. Baldemor,
Pre-school Teacher and Mr. Virgilio A. Mendoza, Administrative Aide. It has
well ventilated classhomes, a covered court, comport rooms in every room,
television sets for educational programs, a spacious School Canteen, a Feeding Center,
a Library and Science
Resource Center.
IES
is a beneficiary of Alay Computer sa Batang Paete, a project of Paetenian
Alliance for Education and Technology (PAETECH) organized in 2002 through Mrs.
Anne Lan Kagahastian-Candelaria, chairman, supported by its officers and board
members: Mr. Raul C. Roque, Engineer/Mayor Emmanuel B. Cadayona, Engr. Noel
Viray, Mr. Cornelio Africano and Mrs. Carmen A. Afuang;honorary board members,
Mr. Angel C. de Dios and Mr. Reynaldo Q. Carolino.
A
two-storey Computer Laboratory was constructed in 2003 to 2005 out of love for
Batang Ibaba through civic-minded Paetenians abroad: Paetenians International
Southern California Chapter, Mrs. Sonia Adea-Paelmo, President; Northeast
California Chapter, Mr. Alfredo Cagayat, President; Dr. Angel C. de Dios,
Washington D.C.; Mr. Reynaldo Q. Carolino, Canada; Mr. Ananias & Mrs.
Evelyn Cruz, Baltimore, Maryland and Dr. Zosimo and Dr. Pacita Adefuin; IES
Parents-Teachers Association, Mr. Ramon C. Angeles, President; IES Alumni
Association, Mrs. Mylene Samonte-Capco, President; and IES Teachers Club, Mrs.
Dalisay P. Madriñan, President.
